Apparently, my #2 related blog is from the summer, and I see nothing extraordinary about it. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that particular blog gets consistent hits - all the time - and others don't. At first I thought that maybe there was a link to it from some other website, but that's not it, there's no referring site.
Go figure - how mysterious!
This happens to me too. I figured out what was happening in my case - maybe it's the same as you: If you post a picture, depending on the name of the file, it'll come up in Google image searches. Say it's something popular (in my case, it was to do with the movie Twilight and I got about 500 hits per day until I figured out what the deal was). If your image shows up as a search result, it registers as a hit. Unfortunately, as soon as I changed the picture's file name, the hits went back to normal (and so did my ego!). I get regular hits on my Pantone post, Frosty the Snowman post and my Christmas Cookie post was quite popular a couple of months ago...
ReplyDeleteSee, that's the thing - there is click through referral associated with the blog entry. My first thought was that the name of the blog being "Social Networking", that's the kind of terms that someone might have googled and landed on it, but it's such a vague title and surely so popular, that I'd guess that my site wouldn't come up in the first bajillion hits. Besides, if it was from something like that, I would have seen the referring URL and there isn't one.
ReplyDeletePerhaps there's a spider out there that's looking for particular terms and it checks back every now and then to reindex - making me think that it's actually a person, I dunno lol.
